Lucy
This portrait of Lucy was painted in my mid-teenage years, yet I am still particularly fond of it due to the emotion and movement depicted.
I met with Lucy and her father on a sunny afternoon, where she was playing with her boisterous golden retriever puppy.
She was a bright and adventurous girl, not at all shy when I was taking photographs and keen to educate me on what she was learning in school.
I worked to illustrate this all via the lively expression I settled on, the pose captured mid-movement, and the bold colours such as oranges and purples I used in a single, thick layer of paint.
